Eagles not expecting ‘full house’ for Corsica friendly – Yusuf

- By Mansur Abubakar

Super Eagles Chief Coach Salisu Yusuf says the technical crew of the senior national team is not expecting all invited players to turn up for the May 26 international friendly against Corsica as the date doesn’t fall into the FIFA window.

In a chat with Daily Trust yesterday, the former Eagles caretaker manager added that players invited are expected to give their best considering the game could determine how they are viewed on the long run by the team’s handlers.

“To be honest since the date doesn’t fall into the international friendly window as outlined by FIFA, we wouldn’t be looking to have everybody around but we’ll make best use of what we have and we know what we are targeting,” Yusuf noted.

A minimum of 19 foreignbased professionals are expected to participate in the training camp in Corsica and Paris, France ahead of the 2019 AFCON clash with the South Africa.

The invited professionals have been instructed to arrive in Paris on May 23rd, 2017 by 1200 hours latest, so that they can connect an arranged flight to Corsica from Paris at 1500 hours.

After the friendly with Corsica on Friday, May 26, the national team will continue camp in Paris from 27-31 May.

Nothing has been cast in stone yet but there is a possibility of playing a second friendly match with a yet-tobe-determined opponent on May 31.

Meanwhile, Eagles skipper John Obi Mikel is believed to have resumed training at Tianjin Teda, according to reports.

The former Chelsea midfielder went under the knife in London penultimate Saturday and the two operations were successful.
