The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has busted an armed robbery syndicate and arrested five suspects.

One of the suspects was arrested with one stolen clipper and 11 (Subscriber Identity Module) SIM cards of different networks.

The suspects, including motorcycle thieves and burglars, were arrested in separate incidents by officers and men of the Rubochi Divisional Police Command.

The FCT Police spokesman, ASP Usen Omorodion, in a statement said a principal suspect, Usman Alhaji Mai-moto, 24, was arrested with a motorcycle which was later confirmed to have been stolen.

“The suspect confessed that he has participated in the snatching of several motorcycles at gunpoint and also gave the police useful information that has led to the arrest of one of his cohorts,” he said.

He said a gang member, Wisdom Peter, 18, was also arrested while trying to sell a stolen motorcycle, adding that two motorcycles were recovered from the suspects and efforts were on to arrest other members of the gang suspected to be in possession of the gang’s firearm.

He said the men of the division also arrested three suspects who specialised in house breaking.

The suspects, Mansur Aminu, 24, Emmanuel Aboki and Dauda Isa who operated separately were arrested with some stolen items.

He said a clipper and SIM cards were recovered from Mansur Aminu, while one generator and another clipper were recovered from Emmanuel Aboki and Dauda Isa.

“The suspects and exhibits will be transferred to the Command Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department for investigation and possible prosecution,” he said.
