Dansadau roots for more parties

- By Abbas Jimoh

Senator Saidu Muhammed Dansadau has advocated for more political parties ahead of 2019 general elections.

Dansadau, who is the Protem National Chairman of National Rescue Movement (NRM), made the call yesterday in Abuja at the inaugural meeting of the movement which is seeking registration from INEC as a political party.

Dansadau had represented Zamfara Central constituency of Zamfara State till 2007. The association he is leading is joining the league of over 50 others seeking registration with INEC to become political parties.

There were already over 40 registered political parties at present.

Though Dansadau did not announce that he will use the new NRM if registered to contest for the presidency, or the forces behind the new platform, he told prospective members of the movement that if given the opportunity, he will render selfless service to Nigeria; including restructuring of the country if that was the choice of majority of the people.

“We have obligation to the nation; some of us enjoyed free education, free health services, enough employment opportunities. It is sad that PhD holders now apply for driving jobs in our country. Our party will bring back hope to Nigerians and show that the country can be rescued and fixed.

“We have seen the failure of the ruling APC, PDP and other parties. Nigerians should have more choices, hence the need for more parties to make 2019 elections competitive,” he said.
