Group kicks against Obiano’s re-election bid
A youth association in Anambra State, the Horizon Group, has said that Governor Willie Obiano does not deserve a second term, alleging that he has failed to deliver dividends of democracy to the people of the state.
The convener of the group, Mr Arinze Igboeli, in a press conference in Awka, said it would be “disastrous” for the electorate in the state to return Obiano for a second tenure when he had performed below expectation.
“When the Obiano administration came into power, it harped on the message of continuity. He said he will The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) yesterday inaugurated the Election Project Plan Committee (EPPC) charged with the responsibility of planning the 2019 general elections. The Commission also approved the 2017 2021 Strategic Plans for immediate implementation, following its validation by complete projects left behind by the Obi administration.
“He promised to develop all sectors of Anambra simultaneously; improve on the quality of life in Anambra through good governance, continue on the state of low indebtedness, run government with great sense of inclusiveness and a prudent and lean administration.
“Sadly, Anambra people have long discovered that what our governor said about continuity is indeed different from what the word ordinarily means,” he said.
There was no immediate comment from the governor’s spokesmen at the time of filing this report.
