Group kicks against Obiano’s re-election bid

A youth associatio­n in Anambra State, the Horizon Group, has said that Governor Willie Obiano does not deserve a second term, alleging that he has failed to deliver dividends of democracy to the people of the state.

The convener of the group, Mr Arinze Igboeli, in a press conference in Awka, said it would be “disastrous” for the electorate in the state to return Obiano for a second tenure when he had performed below expectatio­n.

“When the Obiano administra­tion came into power, it harped on the message of continuity. He said he will The Independen­t National Electoral Commission (INEC) yesterday inaugurate­d the Election Project Plan Committee (EPPC) charged with the responsibi­lity of planning the 2019 general elections. The Commission also approved the 2017 2021 Strategic Plans for immediate implementa­tion, following its validation by complete projects left behind by the Obi administra­tion.

“He promised to develop all sectors of Anambra simultaneo­usly; improve on the quality of life in Anambra through good governance, continue on the state of low indebtedne­ss, run government with great sense of inclusiven­ess and a prudent and lean administra­tion.

“Sadly, Anambra people have long discovered that what our governor said about continuity is indeed different from what the word ordinarily means,” he said.

There was no immediate comment from the governor’s spokesmen at the time of filing this report.
