Reps, CSOs seek efficient costing for health sector
The House of Representatives Committee on Healthcare Services and some Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) have called for efficient and effective costing for the all expenditures in the health sector.
The committee said it is only through efficient costing that donor agencies would be willing and ready to bring out funds for the effective execution of activities in the sector.
Speaking during a meeting of the Primary Health Care Revitalization Group in Abuja, the deputy chairman of the committee, Rep. Muhammad Usman (APC, Kaduna) said the meeting was to get all the stakeholders, comprising many Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) back on track on the issue of PHC.
Country Director of One Campaign, Serah Makka, said her organization was ready to offer the kind of services needed to advance the wellbeing of Nigerians in the area of primary health care.
Representatives of the World Health Organization (WHO), USAID, among others also harped on the effective funding and utilization of same as well as sufficient financial management system for the Nigerian health sector to be on the right track.
The chairman of the committee, Rep Chike Okafor (APC, Imo) assured that there would be an improvement in the allocation to the health sector in the 2017 budget currently being considered by the National Assembly.
