The Board of Directors of AXA Mansard Pensions Limited has appointed Abubakar Sadiq Bello as an independent non-executive director.

Bello is a banker with over 24 years cognate experience in banking, which started in 1990 as a pioneer member of staff of Guaranty Trust Bank plc (GTBank). He rose through the ranks in GTBank where he held several key management positions. At the time of his departure from GTBank in 2011, he was a General Manager and the bank’s Chief Compliance Officer. In August 2011, he was appointed to the board of Mainstreet Bank Limited as an Executive Director with the responsibility for the North Bank Directorate until December 2014.

During his banking career, he was the pioneer Chairman, Committee of Chief Compliance Officers of Banks in Nigeria; Vice Chairman, Committee of Heads of Bank Operations of Banks in Nigeria (CHBO); Member, Unique Taxpayer Identification Number (UTIN) Steering Committee; Member, MICR Technical Implementation Committee and a faculty member of Financial Institutions Training Centre (FITC) and Chartered Institute of Bankers of Nigeria (CIBN).

He graduated with first class honours in Business Management from the University of Maiduguri (1987). He also holds a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from the University of Benin (1990) where he was awarded Best MBA Graduand in Operations Research Course.

The Board and Management of AXA Mansard Pensions Limited said that his wealth of experience would be a great addition to the Board.
