I’m not at war with Dogara — Abubakar

Governor Mohammed Abdullahi Abubakar of Bauchi State has said that he is not at war with the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Yakubu Dogara.

The governor, who stated this in Abuja yesterday, said “The so called rift” was the handiwork of political jobbers, whose stock in trade was to create disagreements between leaders.

The governor said that politics in Nigeria had a history of pitting leaders against each other.

According to him, ‘’Yes, it is very true that some crooks and selfish politicians are bent on making it impossible for us to live in harmony and that is their stock in trade. They proffer even imaginary theories and continue to paint a picture of hell just to cash in and feast on the situation for their selfishness and survival; this is not only bad but also ungodly.

“However, it looks as though that is not new in our kind of politics. Indeed, it is very much happening in most if not in virtually all of our states in Nigeria.

“You see, history is a lesson. In our state of Bauchi, for example, one would recall in succession how bosom relationships went sour: Ajiya Adamu of blessed memory and the then governor, Ahmadu Mu’azu; then Governor Mu’azu and the immediate past governor, Isa Yuguda; then Governor Yuguda and Senator Bala Mohammed,” he said.

He said he felt comfortable that Hon. Dogara himself admitted recently in a media interview that the perceived disagreement was not personal per se, and that it was all about the provision of dividends of democracy to the people of Bauchi State.

The governor said he was on the same page with Dogara on the provision of dividends of democracy, which his administration had been delivering to the people of the state through sheer prudence and in defiance of lean financial inflow.
