Why we staged protest in Bauchi — HDP
The Hope Democratic Party (HDP) has explained that its decision to organise a protest in Bauchi is meant to point out key issues affecting the citizens.
The party gave the explanation in a statement jointly signed by its state chairman, Murtala Jibrin, and secretary, Aliyu Shu’aibu Ali, while reacting to a statement credited to the Bauchi State Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC). The APC spokesperson was quoted to have accused the HDP of looking for cheap popularity by its decision to hold a demonstration against the Governor Mohammed Abdullahi Abubakar-led administration.
The statement reminded the ruling party that its protests should not be underestimated as the APC also defeated the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) like “a joke”.
It debunked the remarks that it was seeking cheap popularity, stressing that it would bring the people out of the political quagmire orchestrated by the APC government as a young and dynamic party that captivated the minds of the electorate.
The party also stated that the people of Bauchi State were tired of “lame excuses” being given by the APC administration in the state.
It dismissed the APC excuses that there was no money to execute projects in the state despite the allocations received from the federation account.
