Nizamiye Hospital, Life Camp, Abuja, has marked three years of carrying out 50, 000 successful surgeries and other health milestones.

Speaking during the third anniversary of the hospital in Abuja, Chief Medical Director of the hospital, Dr Akah Huseyin said in spite of challenges, the hospital achieved the feat and offered free medical treatment to less privileged Nigerians.

He said the hospital has a foundation, which was aimed at providing quality and affordable health care to Nigerians and residents of Abuja.

Daily Trust gathered that in August last year, the hospital performed its first open heart surgery in Abuja.

The CMD said the hospital was of international standards and has well-equipped emergency unit, adult/ newborn intensive care unit, operating theatre, labour and delivery rooms, laboratory, pharmacy, central surgery, radiology, cardiology, and dental clinic.

Others are: internal medicine, orthopaedics and traumatology, obstetrics and gynaecology, ophthalmology, anaesthesiology and algology, neurology/neurosurgery and dermatology.

Minister of State for Health, Dr Osagie Ehanire, said the country could not continue to fund overseas medical treatment, when there were better equipped hospitals like Nizamiye in Nigeria.
