The FCT Minister, Malam Muhammad Musa Bello, has suspended the management staff of the Abuja Investment Company Limited, AICL, currently under investigation by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) over alleged corrupt practices.
a The minister seven-man constituted interim management team headed by Dr. Bashir Isyaku, to oversee the affairs of the company pending the outcome of the investigation by the EFCC.
The suspended management staff were Dr. Musa Ahmed Musa (GMD), whose suspension was announced a month ago); Abdulsalam Salisu, (Senior Vice President/Ag. GMD), Sani Yakubu (Senior Vice President, Business Developemnt); Showole Wasiu Abiodun (SVP Equity Management); Ibrahim Aliyu (SVP Asset Management); Ibezim Francisca (SVP Legal); Owraigbo Japhat A (SVP F & T); Engr. Abbas Yakubu Muhammed (VP Asset Management) and Waziri Asabe Z (VP HR&A).
The minister who announced the suspension on Friday when he visited the management of AICL and other Chief Executives of subsidiary companies said it became imperative for the FCT Administration to take a firm action so as to protect its investment and ensure the company continues in the right direction.
He said the administration was inundated with series of corruption allegations against the suspended staff , as well as the bad working relationship between the company and heads of subsidiaries. The Police in Bwari Area Council have arrested a suspected armed robber, Chicago Michael, after he allegedly robbed a resident in the area.
Two guns, an iron cutter and cutlasses were recovered from the suspect.
A statement from the FCT Police Command spokesperson, ASP Usen Omorodion, said the suspect was arrested in Garam, a community in Niger State, where he had fled to after the robbery.
He said the suspect allegedly robbed one Ogun at gun point and made away with his Toyota Camry, Plasma television and handsets last Thursday at about 3a.m.
“The surveillance team attached to Bwari division after receiving the distress call trailed the robbers who had fled with the items to Garam village in Niger State, where ring leader Chicago Michael was arrested,” he said.
He said the vehicle and other items were recovered including a double barrel gun, one locally made pistol, two live cartridges, iron cutter and cutlasses.
“The suspect confessed to the crime and is assisting the police to apprehend the fleeing members of his gang,” he said.
