Staff salaries not an issue in Abaji – Chairman

- By Abubakar Sadiq Isah

The Chairman of Abaji Area Council, Alhaji Abdulrahman Ajiya, has said payment of staff salaries is no longer an issue in the council as he has paid up to date.

Speaking while presenting his scorecard as he marked one year in office yesterday, Ajiya, said despite the meagre resources accruing to the council, his administration has been able to pay salaries and other entitlements to staff.

He said the past administration under the leadership of Alhaji Yahaya Garba Gawu, left a liability of three months staff salaries but he was able to clear that and move on.

He said that his administration was among the few that have been able to meet the obligations of its staff.

He assured that despite several challenges, his administration will intensify efforts to meet up with some of the expectations of the electorate.

The chairman, however, said that his administration has been able to touch the lives of both people of the rural areas and Abaji town, through provision of social amenities, such as electricity, a healthcare centre and the establishment of junior secondary school.

He added that the council has provided water and recticulation at Unguwar Sokodabo street.

City News reports that the council chairman at the event presented motorcycles to vigilante groups, members of motorcycle union, water pumping machines, sprayers and agro chemicals to groups of rural farmers in the area.
