Police arrest 5 armed robbery suspects in Kebbi
Two persons namely Umar Sada alias ‘Yaume’ and Ahmed Adamu alias ‘Dindingi’ both of Kofar Sauri area of Katsina metropolis yesterday at the Katsina Police Command confessed to have killed three persons and snatched away their motorcycles.
The Commissioner Police’s surveillance Corp had arrested the duo after an operation before paraded at the command’s Headquarters.
Speaking with newsmen, Ahmed Adamu said they were being paid between N3,000 for each operation.
“After every operation we The police authorities have arrested five suspected armed robbers belonging to two gangs of armed bandits operating in Kebbi State.
The suspected armed robbers are members of the gangs that had been terrorizing people living in Birnin Kebbi , Shanga and Yauri communities of the state and have been on the wanted list of the police.
Those arrested are Murtala Salisu, Salisu Auwalu all of Dala village at Shanga Local Government Area of the state. Others are Bilyaminu Muhammed, Shuaibu Abubakar, Nura Altine and Habibu Umar.
While briefing journalists in his office at the force headquarters at Gwadangwaji area of Birnin Kebbi, the Commissioner of take the motorcycle to Hirji town to meet one Mikailu Rahamawa who cross over to Niger Republic to return with our payments.
“At most we are paid between N3,000 to N4,000 depending on what he tells us, we collect and return to continue,” he added.
He said, “So far we have operated and killed three Police, Ibrahim Kabiru said members of the armed bandits blocked the Shanga/ Yauri road and robbed two people. He added that upon tip off the policemen from Shanga Division responded and arrested the suspected armed robbers.
At another development the police commissioner said the command has also arrested suspected armed robbers, Abdullahi Kailu and Dauda Jibo in Kamba and another one, Zayyanu Dauda at Goru area of the state.
He called on Kebbi public to be vigilant and to report any suspicious persons to the police. He warned the command would not tolerate any form of criminal activities in the state noting that it has positioned its men and officers at strategic areas of the state to maintain the peace which Kebbi is known for. persons at the G.R.A., Lambum Danlwai and Steel Rolling areas.”
For Umar Sada, “All I want is for the police to go after others involved as well as I regret my actions.
“We normally used cables to strangled our victims, they become unconscious and dead before we take the bike,” he said.
Speaking on the issue, the state Commissioner of Police Usman Abdullahi said, “People should be careful on carrying commuters to lone areas, they sell this machines between N15,000 to N40,000.”
“They have owned up to their acts as from what you can see, we will soon charge them to court,” he added.
