Kwande: I rate Buhari 80 per cent
A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Plateau State, Alhaji Yahaya Kwande, said yesterday that President Muhammadu Buhari has done well in the last two years and, therefore, gave him 80 per cent rating.
Kwande, a former Nigerian Ambassador to Switzerland, who said this in an interview with Daily Trust said despite Buhari’s illness, the president had done excellently and could not be compared with ex-President Goodluck Jonathan.
“Buhari has done so well to such an extent I rated him 80 per cent despite his sickness. The brave move by Buhari to stop fuel subsidy was the turning point,” he said.
He added that unlike during Jonathan’s administration when Boko Haram were unleashing terror and the insurgency nearly swallowed the whole country, Buhari had technically defeated the terrorists, as people can pray, sleep and go to public places in peace without fear of being attacked.
“I am not talking about hit and run and suicide attacks: these attacks would remain for quite a long time because of the weakness of the security; even in the developed world, we have issues of hit and run and suicide attacks,” he said.
Kwande said the method Buhari was using in fighting corruption had yielded positive results as evident in the billions of naira and dollars recovered from looters.
He advised Nigerians to pray for Buhari’s quick recovery, adding that people that were not sympathetic and calling for his resignation should know that every human could fall sick.
