- By Orkula Shaagee, with agency report

The Chief Coach of Wikki Tourists Bala Nikyu has assured the club’s teeming fans and supporters that the club could still win a ticket this season to play on the continent next year.

“I believe that God can rule out bad situation and turn it around and I am hoping to take the team to another continental campaign at the end of the season.”

He also expressed delight with the performance of his players in their 3-0 win over visiting Abia Warriors last Sunday, which was Nikyu’s first game in charge of the Desert Scorpions.

Ahmed Usman, Chukwudi Samuel and Hassan Hussaini were the scorers for the day.

“It is a good beginning for me, because I left Wikki in 2008 which is about nine years ago. Now, I am back to Wikki again.

“I hope and pray that the record I left behind will continue.

“We all know that the team is a good team, right from last season and they secured a ticket to play on the continent.

“This year, it must have been just a little mistake somewhere that led them to crashing out of the continental competition.

“This is because they have being playing well and it is just hard luck that they have not been getting the goals.

“But I am not taking over the team at a very difficult situation as being insinuated, because God has control over every difficult situation,” he said.

Abdullahi Biffo, Chief Coach of Abia Warriors, later told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN)

that it was a result they never expected.

“In a match, you either win or lose. But it is just not easy for us to accept a loss like this because we did not bargain for this scoreline.

“It has taught us a big lesson though, and we really have to go back and see where we went wrong, so that the same mistake will not repeat itself,” Biffo said.
