Onyeama warns against destructive campaigns

-

A presidential candidate for the Nigeria Cricket Federation, Engineer Emeka Onyeama has appealed to all stakeholders vying for elective posts ahead of the June 13th Zonal Vice Presidential and Presidential elections to shun destructive politicking.

Onyeama expressed shock at the campaign of calumny against his persons over his ambition to seek for re-election after the expiration of his first term in office.

He wondered why elections into the cricket federation has become a do or die affair with some candidates resort to personal attacks rather than roll out their plans and allow the people to decide.

He said his decision to seek re-election was to consolidate on what the outgone board has already put on ground.

“We have managed to reinstate cricket in the National School Sports curriculum which has seen students participating in the last 3 editions of the event.

“We also got cricket back into NUGA which is another platform we are holding strongly after we rejuvenated it and it is now waxing stronger.

“Also at the second edition of the National Youth Games held in Ilorin in 2016, cricket (men and women) was the only team sport featured,” Onyeama said.

These unprecedented achievements he added were the results of wellorchestrated plans and the immediate past board’s determination to rewrite the story of cricket across the West African sub region.
