FG donate building materials to IDPs
The Federal Government has donated building materials, food and vocational training equipment to victims of insurgency in Adamawa State.
Presenting the items in Yola yesterday, the Federal Commissioner, National Commission for Refugees, Migrants and Internally Displaced Persons (NCRMI), Sadiya Farouq, said the commission is helping the victims to rebuild their destroyed homes as well as improve their revenue.
She said the commission had in April trained residents of the affected communities on agriculture, agro processing and animal husbandry as part of recovery plans for the North East.
“The provision of these materials today therefore does not reflect the totality of our interventions, rather we wish to demonstrate our support for the Adamawa State Government in its efforts to provide the necessary social services for IDPs and the affected communities.
“We identified key projects that we felt would contribute to the PsychoSocio-Economic wellbeing of affected persons and their communities, and carried out skills trainings followed by empowerment of beneficiaries,” she said.
The federal commissioner added that the commission would establish zonal and field offices as well as intervention centres to fast track service delivery in the region.
The Adamawa State Commissioner for Agriculture, Waziri Ahmadu, assured the donors that the items would be used judiciously for the benefit of the intended beneficiaries.
Items donated include building materials, food and non-food items, shelter and entrepreneurial equipment to make the returnees selfsufficient.
