Council bosses should identify their challenges - Dobi
The House of Representative member for Abuja South, Alhaji Zakari Angulu Dobi, has advised area council chairmen in the FCT to identify their major challenges so that they can overcome them.
Speaking at the one year anniversary of the chairman of Gwagwalada Area Council, Alhaji Adamu Mustapha, on Wednesday, Dobi said he will join hands with the council chairmen in order to ensure they overcome such challenges.
“It is not a competition per say, my message is that each of this area councils should identify her immediate problem with the view to working hard to overcome them,” he said.
Dobi commended the Gwagwalada council chairman for prompt payment of staff salaries and for carrying out viable projects that will impact on the lives of residents of the council despite the challenges of pack of funds.
The council chairman said the experiences of his administration in the last one year under an economy in recession were nerve wrecking.
He added that despite the paucity of funds, his administration had executed some viable projects that have direct bearing on the lives of residents of the council.
He said his administration on assumption of office rehabilitated Ibwa-Paiko road and constructed a double cell box culvert as well as a single cell culvert on the road.
He added that the council has also constructed the Gwagwalada Market one way road with asphalt overlay and has connected electricity to Yimi and Machada communities of the council.
