CITY NEWS 11 corpses from Maitama hospital for mass burial Fire razes building in Gwarinpa

The management of Maitama District Hospital has said it would embark on mass burial for 11 corpses deposited by the police at the hospital’s mortuary.

All the corpses were deposited between December 2015 and August 2016. The corpses were brought by police officers from Life Camp, Karshi, Mabuchi, Maitama, Katampe and Kado Kuchi according to a publicatio­n which also had the names of the officers and their telephone numbers.

The management in the publicatio­n yesterday said members of the public should visit the hospital’s mortuary for identifica­tion corpses.

“Maitama District Hospital will carry out mass burial of these corpses after two weeks from the date of this publicatio­n,” the publicatio­n read. of the A building has been razed by fire in Gwarinpa but no life was lost but the boy’s quarters of the building on 35 Road was destroyed.

A police source said the occupants of the building near Samsung office in the area were not inside when the fire started at about 5:00a.m. on Wednesday.

A source said the security guard reported the incident at the police station.

Gwarinpa Divisional Police Officer, CSP Nuruddeen Sabo, said he informed fire wardens about the incident.

“Patrol teams rushed to the scene, cordoned the area and with combined efforts of our men and fire service personnel the fire was quenched,” he said.

He said preliminar­y investigat­ion showed that the fire was caused by an electric spark.
