CRIME Man stabs wife to death over N4,000

- From Itodo Daniel Sule, Lokoja

A30-year-old taxi driver, Abdullahi Garba, has made a shocking confession of how he killed his wife, Falilat Saka, following a heated argument they had over N4,000 housekeeping money.

0Garba, a resident of Ihima in Okehi Local Government Area of Kogi State, who was paraded by the Kogi Police Command, alongside 11 other suspects, said he was pushed by the devil to commit the act.

He said he returned home from work on that fateful day, May 30, and was taking some oranges when his wife demanded for N4,000 for family upkeep.

He said that the whole money that he was able to realise that day was N2,000, which he gave to her but that she insisted she needed more.

Abdullahi further narrated that his wife was not satisfied with the amount and that a heated argument ensued between them; and that out of anger, he used the knife he was using to peel the oranges to stab her on the shoulder.

“I made efforts to rush her to the hospital for medical attention but she died eventually,” he lamented.

Abdullahi, who regretted his action, explained that they had been married for the past 15 years and that the union was blessed with a six-yearold boy.

Kogi State Commissioner of Police, Wilson Inalegwu, represented by DCP Yahaya S. Abubakar, who paraded the suspects, told newsmen that detectives from the homicide section of the Okehi Police Division arrested the suspect following a complaint lodged by one Obavidi Momoh Salami.

He said the suspect confessed that he stabbed his wife during a heated argument over housekeeping money, and that the suspect would be arraigned in court as soon as the result of the post- mortem was received.
