Youths need self-awareness

-

The reason why I chose to advocate selfawareness is majorly from my conviction - why Nigeria’s youths wander. My belief is that our deep rooted problems can not be separated from our negligence towards self-awareness. We live every day without purpose. We go about our everyday routine without discovering what value it adds to our self-realization. We go everyday searching for jobs not considering who we are - without us taking to consideration our compatibility. You find a person that has so much love for wealth go into civil service - how would he be content with what civil service has to offer. Such a person should have join business, thus some people are always found wanting. We leave the vital part of our future to chance.

We have been oriented to choose professions based strictly on the PAY - instead of following passion which adds more value to life. We price tagged every calorie we burn, every bit of strength we allocate. We think as if success is all about earnings. This is just the problem. You can’t reach any destination when you don’t know where you departed from.

Let’s please come together and define who we are or what we should be or how we want to be seen. Let’s assiduously put down what we value most and let’s cautiously put down things we detest. Let’s make sure we promulgated the idea so that such things would be acknowledged and addressed. We should all work assiduously to see what we can compromise so that we can work towards tolerance. Let’s prioritize self-discovery; because it’s only when you know yourself you can know others. We should prioritize our common goals; we’re more common than we’re different, we’re just many times poisoned to think we are different - they do that because their kinds only benefit from chaos, we should prioritize unity and togetherness, not division. Division always takes us back, Unity always makes us firm. We should be all out to combat bigotry - it’s high time we understand division plays a major role in our backwardness. We should always scoff at those cynics - because it’s the only way to disarm them from their negatives. We should understand that success is measured not just by our accomplishments, but by the enormous threats and difficulties we relentlessly endure and overcome; perseverance is all we need right now. We have gone some couples of miles already, it’s no time to throw all that away.

We should task ourselves for industrialization, we should task ourselves for productivity and most importantly, we should task ourselves for our unity we can’t continue to wait tirelessly for our leaders to deliver all that. We should take the major role in it. We should continue to scoff at those cynics. We should join hands together and take responsibility for our future.

Let’s give so much attention to what we value and how it takes us closer to our goals, how it affects us and the impact it makes to our lives. Let’s remind ourselves that the quagmire we find ourselves in today has so much to do with us neglecting selfawareness. Mustapha Anka, mustyanka@icloud.com
