Young party to entrench inclusiveness in governance
The Young Progressives Party (YPP), one of the five newly registered political parties by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) was yesterday unveiled in Abuja.
Addressing newsmen at the official launching of the party, its National Chairman, Comrade Emmanuel Amakiri, said the party was formed to entrench true leadership founded on social democratic principles and allinclusive governance.
He explained that with the new party in the political sphere, young Nigerians would be allotted political leadership roles based on a level playing field.
He added that the new party had fashioned out strategies to calm tension and intervene on the three months ultimatum given the Igbos residing in the North to vacate the region.
“The Arewa Youths are Nigerians; IPOB members are Nigerians; maybe, sometimes conflict of interest from various groups may lead to misunderstanding.
“But what is important is to bring together those various groups, bring them together and give them reorientation through a programme and make them understand that we are in one country,” he said.
“We cannot afford to disintegrate. We, as a party, advocate for one Nigeria. Any group, be it Arewa, IPOB coming up with their grievances and trying to go away, we are saying it’s irrelevant,” he added.
