Firm sues HoS, AGF over civil service club

- By Clement A. Oloyede

The Head of Service of the Federation, Mrs Winifred Oyo-Ita and the Attorney-General of the Federation (AGF) and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami (SAN) have been sued over closure of the Federal Civil Service Club.

A hospitality firm, Wajul Catering Services Limited filed the suit citing alleged breach of contract agreement in the closure of the club, located at Mabushi, Abuja for over a year, .

The firm said it filed the suit after exhausting all official channels to get justice, including writing a petition to the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) and office of the AGF.

In the suit before an Abuja Federal High Court, the firm claimed that in December 2015, the club was leased to it through an offer letter, after meeting all conditions.

The firm said it was expected to manage the club, subject to renewal at a lease amount of N75 million for the first five years and subsequent increase of 10 per cent on the amount at each five years renewal, totalling 20 years.

It said after spending over N39 million, the Office of the Head of Civil Service of the Federation (OHCSF) through H.O Alayaki, a director in the office, wrote the company to “hold on” for two weeks, pending audit of the financial records of the defunct management committee of the club.

A motion on notice filed by the company is praying the court to restrain the respondents and their agents from dispossessing of the property until the final determination of the case.
