CITY NEWS Suspected cultists kill student in Karu

Three men suspected to be cultists on Monday at about 9p.m at Angwan Hausawa Karu, killed Shamsudeen Abdullahi, a student of Junior Secondary School Narai, Karu.

A witness, Abdussalam Abubakar, said he was with the deceased when the three suspected them.

He said the suspects, Muhammed Shehu, Nuhu Tanko and one Abubakar, engaged them in a fight on Angwan Hausawa road that fateful night.

He said, “They were three while we were two and in the course of the fight, Shehu removed a knife and tried to cultists attacked stab me with it but I dogged. I was their target but since they couldn’t get me, they stabbed my friend. He was rushed to Customs Hospital in Karu, where he was pronounced dead.”

City News gathered that the suspect , Shehu was arrested on Tuesday .

The Sarkin Hausawa of Karu, Alhaji Sulaiman Musa Abdulkadir, who visited Karu Police Station, after the incident, commended the police for their effort and promised that the community would work with them to arrest hoodlums and cultists that were disturbing the area.

The father of the deceased, Malam Magaji Abdullahi, said “Glory be to Almighty Allah, I commend the effort of the police, for responding quickly to arrest the killers of my son. I want justice for my late son.”

The DPO, CSP Fatai Kinyomi, confirmed the incident. He said the main suspect was in police custody.

He expressed his readiness to work with the community to ensure safety of lives and property, adding that investigat­ion was ongoing.
