- By Taiwo Adeniyi

The late APC chieftain Olisameka Akamukali was going to pick his daughter up from school when his car fell in a ditch after a narrow bridge close to the school was submerged by flood, it emerged yesterday.

A police source said Akamukali got drown in the ditch close to a British school around Fourth Avenue, Gwarinpa before he could be rescued.

The late All Progressives Congress (APC) chieftain was the Director General of Rabi’u Kwankwaso Campaign for President; first interim National Auditor of APC and former National Chairman of Democratic Peoples Party (DPP) before it merged to form the APC in 2013.

The source said the flood which resulted from heavy rainfall at about 5:00p.m. on Friday, made it difficult for the deceased to navigate his way to the school.

“It was raining heavily and as he approached the narrow bridge close to the school gate, he mistakenly swerved inside a ditch,” the source said.

The Gwarinpa Divisional Police Officer, CSP Nuruddeen Sabo, said the deceased was already dead before he could be removed from the ditch.

He said a Toyota Camry with registration number ABS 471 AA which he was driving has been removed from the ditch while his body was deposited at the mortuary in Kubwa General Hospital.
