Amaechi tackles Wike over threats to wife

- By Chris Agabi

The Minister of Transport, Rotimi Amaechi has vowed to expose Governor Nyesom Wike’s wife if the governor did not stop making public statement about his (Amaechi’s) wife.

Media reports said Wike had on Monday alleged that each commissioner and local government chairman in Rivers State paid Amaechi’s wife, Judith, N3m and N2m monthly, respectively while he was governor.

When confronted with the allegations at the sidelines of the inspection of the Kaduna Dry Ports yesterday, the obviously furious Amaechi said Wike was “garrulous and speaks without facts.”

According to him, “You have a governor (Wike) who is garrulous in nature who doesn’t talk with facts. By accident of Goodluck Jonathan, I don’t want to attribute it to God, but by the accident of President Jonathan, the man takes office and talks rubbish. My wife and family, including my younger brothers and sisters, no one had access to government when I was governor,” Amaechi said.

“Even as minister, nobody will have because it is not a family business,” he said, adding that if Wike did not leave his wife out of his public comments, he will have him to contend with.

“If he doesn’t shut up his mouth and do his job, I will bring his wife to the focus. I have been much matured not to be bringing out his wife. But if Wike doesn’t close his mouth, if he talks of my wife again, I will bring his wife to focus,” Amaechi threatened.

“My wife will never do what Wike is accusing her of. One thing I care about is transparency; my wife is a trader. She buys and sells and Wike knows that.

“Do you believe that Wike is well? First, he doesn’t know how to speak English, he is poorly dressed, he is thug and you bring me to focus to such a man?” he asked.

“You (media) gave him ( Wike) all the opportunities today to say all the rubbish and malign me without facts but the other day, you you cut me off and put a disclaimer,” he said.

Amaechi also denied having any problems with Senator Magnus Abe.
