Tornadoes to play remaining league matches in Minna

- From Ahmed Tahir Ajobe, Minna

Supporters of the Niger Tornadoes would have the opportunity of watching the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) action involving their darling team, which is billed to play its last four matches in Minna as from August.

Our correspondent reports that Tornadoes are unable to host their home matches at the popular Bako Kontagora Memorial Stadium Minna for quite sometimes now due to its deplorable condition.

However the state football association said yesterday that the team would play their last four matches of the 2016/2017 NPFL season at their home ground.

The association’s delegation led by Yabagi Baba at the end of inspection of ongoing works on the stadium said the home ground is almost ready for action.

Mallam Yabagi Baba, who is the 1st vice chairman of the state FA, said the delegation was delighted to see the progress of work done so far.

“As the chairman of the organising committee of the state FA, it is incumbent on me to visit the stadium to monitor the situation on ground and we really appreciated the effort of the contractor”.

He also said, “we want NPFL matches to resume at the stadium because the people of the state have long been missing actioný of their darling team,” he said.

He called on the contractor handling the project to speed up work as the teaming supporters of the club are seriously eager to welcome back their team to the state.
