CRIME NDLEA nabs 2 with 868kg of Tramadol in Plateau
Two suspects have been arrested with 31 cartons of Tramadol in Plateau State weighing 868 kilogrammes by operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA).
Parading the suspects in Jos, the state capital, NDLEA commander in the state, Ibrahim Bragi, said the arrest of the suspects and subsequent seizure of the drugs were made after the operatives intercepted a J5 with registration number, QAP 316 XB, at Kwande Villlage in Shendam Local Government Area.
The NDLEA commander said only the driver of the J5 and a hired man were seen conveying the goods on their way to Gombe.
He also handed over some counterfeit and expired drugs of about 5, 580kg seized by the command from a suspect: Jude Okoye Okeke, aka Zuma, to the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC).
He said, just last week, his men arrested for the fourth time, a notorious drug dealer in the state, Peter Okoye, with psychotropic and fake drugs from his various warehouses across Jos Metropolis.
The North Central Zonal Coordinator of NAFDAC, Mrs. Josephine A. Dayilim, who was represented by the Assistant Chief Regulatory Officer, Mr. Gabriel Phillip, assured that the agency would work round the clock to stop the circulation of fake and expired drugs.
