NSCDC rescues motorcycle thief in Lafia
The Nasarawa State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has said that its men have rescued a 25-year-old man, Muhammed Idris, from a mob who wanted to lynch him for allegedly stealing a motorcycle in Lafia.
Parading some suspects alongside Idris in Lafia, the Commandant of the NSCDC, Lawan Bashir-Kano, said the suspect was apprehended by residents in the area and that it took the intervention of his men to rescue the suspect from the angry mob, adding that the suspect confessed committing the crime and had also confessed to have stolen about nine other motorcycles in recent times.
The commandant said his men also arrested a 35-yearold man, Abubakar Zakari, for allegedly stealing a Bajaj motorcycle belonging to Ishiaka Usman.
He advised all Okada riders in the state to consider their safety first by observing safe working hours, emphasising that the warning became imperative following incessant cases of motorcycle robbery whereby the riders were murdered.
