Man hypnotises, rapes 7 housewives

The police in Katsina have arrested one Sani Idris, 40, of Maska village of Funtua Local Government Area over allegedly hypnotising and raping seven housewives.

Idris, who was arraigned before a magistrate’s court in the state for cognizance, had been sent to prison on remand till July 24 when the case will come up for mention.

The Police First Information Report (FIR) listed victims of the accused as Maimunatu Muntari, Hadiza Marabar Maska, Murja, Zainab Suleiman, Mana Maryam, Mariya and Hajiya Amina Dan Dutse.

The accused, who was reported to the police by Maimunatu’s husband, Muntari Samaila, was accused of using a phone to call and tell his victims that their husbands were wizards and that he could help them overcome the challenge.

Luck however ran out on Idris when he contacted Maimunatu and that when she got to his house, he allegedly prepared some concoction for her which aborted her one-month pregnancy and that he thereafter started mumbling some incantations.

Muntari further told the police that the accused thereafter reportedly had sexual intercourse with Maimunatu and warned her not to tell anybody.

“Upon interrogation, the suspect confessed to have committed the offence with Maimuna and other women.

“He was charged to the court for rape and attempt to commit an offence to wit causing miscarriage contrary to sections 283 and 95 of the Penal code law,” the FIR stated.
