Constituents set to recall Rep Jibrin
Hundreds of constituents from Bebeji/Kiru Federal Constituency of Kano State have begun moves to recall their member in the House of Representatives, Abdulmumini Jibrin Kofa.
The aggrieved constituents, yesterday, converged on the Agric Show Ground, Dakatsalle, in Bebeji Local Government Area and kicked-started the recall process.
One of the leaders planning for the recall of the lawmaker, Malam Salele Bushasha, told the crowd that they were set to recall Rep. Jibrin for allegedly disrespecting President Muhammadu Buhari, national and state leaderships of the APC, as well as the National Assembly.
“Kofa has no concern whatsoever to his constituents. He was suspended from the National Assembly, but instead of him to reconcile with the leadership of the house, he rather left our seat at the lower chamber vacant.
“Based on these and many other reasons too numerous to mention, we have compiled all the necessary documents for onward presentation to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) on the 30th of this month to kick-start the process.
“It is high time for us to have someone that will give us proper representation at the lower chamber,” he said.
Bushasha said the people of Kiru and Bebeji local government areas wanted their interests fully protected in Abuja, alleging that since Rep. Jibrin was not ready to serve them better, they were ready to replace him with a competent hand.
Those at the rally included the Chairman of the Youth Council, Bebeji chapter, Abdulrashid Isah, Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Teachers (NUT), Bebeji chapter, Yusuf Garba, and many politicians from both the ruling APC and opposition political parties.
Efforts to reach Rep. Jibrin were not successful as he neither picked the calls put to his mobile phone nor replied a text message sent to him.
