You don’t need start-up capital

-

You don’t need start-up capital to start a business. If you are just starting out, you need proof that your idea works. You don’t need a lot of money to prove this. Simply do your homework well, make your idea work and raising money to grow your business will not be that difficult.

When you are just starting, free is the name of the game. See what you can get for free, or close to free. This is the testing stage. You don’t need office or equipment to do this. Find where you can borrow or rent. Find a way to improvise to get your idea off the ground. Your savings should be enough for expenses you cannot avoid.

When you don’t have money, necessity becomes the mother of invention. When you have the money you need, you tend to spend without thinking. You tend to throw money at every problem that comes your way.

Every idea looks good on paper. You have to move it from paper to reality in the cheapest way possible. You have to take your idea on a road test. Who would want to invest in an untested business? Would you buy a used car without test-driving it first? Why buy the car first and test it later?

It is good to have faith in your dreams, but you have to put it to the test. It should start to make money. It is during testing that unforeseen problems come up. This takes you back to the drawing board. It is unwise raising funds to sink into an untested prototype.

You don’t need start-up capital. You need a tested idea. It is easy to raise capital after you have proved your idea works. At this point, you are ready to grow your business. You know what works and what does not.

Stop waiting for start-up capital to get your show on the road. Get moving with what you already have. If you do a good job, the resources you need will start showing up.
