I will invite more players to CHAN camp, says Yusuf

- By David Ngobua

F@Ngobuadavid ollowing the public outcry over the non-inclusion of some star players in the list of Home Based Eagles who are to prepare for the 2018 CHAN, the coach of the team, Salisu Yusuf has said he will be inviting more players to camp.

It will be recalled that on Monday, the NFF made public the list of 30 NPFL players who have been invited to camp by the coach preparatory to the CHAN 2018 qualifying match against either Togo or Benin Republic in August.

As expected players like Ikechukwu Ezenwa, Alhassan Ibrahim, Sikiru Olatunbosun and Stephen Odey made the list but some Nigerians still feel there are other good players who should have made the team.

In a chat with Daily Trust yesterday, Yusuf said it was not possible for him to invite all the good players in the league to camp at the same time.

According to him, there will be limited space in the camp of the team so inviting more than 30 players at once would result to another problem.

“I want those who are genuinely concerned about the list I have released to know that it is not the final list. More players will be invited to camp.

“As a matter of fact, after our first match, there may be need to bring in other players to come and complement. And when we eventually qualify, we would still need additional players.

“So the door has not been shut. It is not every player who made the first list that is going to make the final list. We would need at least four good players in each position,” he said.

Yusuf therefore called on those who missed out on the first list to wait patiently as he assured that if they keep doing well in their clubs, they would be given a chance.
