Pension administrator stresses need for will writing

- From Andrew Agbese, kaduna

Human resource personnel of corporate organizations are being enlightened on the need to encourage people to write their will to make for easier dispensation of inheritances.

A pension fund administrator with Sigma Pensions Limited, which undertook the training of human resource personnel in Kaduna, identified the lack of will as hampering the smooth transmission of inheritances to families in cases of deaths.

The Managing Director of Sigma, Mr. Dave Uduanu, who was represented at the conference by Executive Director, Technical, Sigma Pensions Limited, Ibrahim Balarabe during a sensitization conference organized for Human Resources (HR)/ Pension Desk Officers (PDOs) in Kaduna, said they decided to involve the human resource personnel since the people were not directly accessible to them.

The MD said wills and letters of administration had been very challenging and encouraged employees to prepare their will to ensure amicable settlements of benefits to their next of kin.

“We have many instances where, because of legal tussle within family members, monies are there, but they cannot be paid. Children cannot go to school, the family can hardly feed just because there was no clear-cut arrangement as to who the money should be paid to,” he said, advising people to always write their will irrespective of their age or health status.
