FCT NLC women committee elects new executives

The women committee of the Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC) in the FCT, yesterday, elected its new executives who are to pilot the affairs of the union for the next four years.

The newly elected executives were returned unopposed during the union’s quadrennial delegate conference held at Wabba House in Abuja.

Among the executives are, Comrade Fibi Haruna, (chairperson), Comrade Lucky Chinyere Duroha, vice chairperson, Comfort Otobo, secretary, Omaguyi Rita Silas, Assistant secretary, Mary Zakko, Ex- officio I and Dablet Martina Yusuf as Ex- officio II.

In her acceptance speech, chairperson of the FCT NLC women committee, said working class women needed to be sensitized to actively participate in labour unionism within and even beyond the shores of the FCT.

She therefore solicited for the support and cooperation of other members of the committee in order to bring home women’s desire through labour and union activities.

She thanked the committee members for the confidence they have in her and other executives, promising to lead the union efficiently in the next four years.

Also speaking, the national president of the Nigerian Union of Local Government Employees (NULGE), Comrade Khaleel Abubakar, who presided over the election, advised the executives to live up to expectation in delivering their promises.

He also urged them to ensure they carry every members of the committee along for the development and progress of the committee.
