There was jubilation all over by supporters of the Makarfiled PDP.

Former President, Goodluck Jonathan, said yesterday, that he was happy with the successful resolution of the PDP leadership crisis by the Supreme Court.

In a post on his Facebook page, Jonathan expressed confidence in the judiciary, saying that the judgement had no winners or losers, and maintained that it would bring the party together.

“As I congratulate the Ahmed Makarfi-led caretaker committee, I want to strongly urge them not to see this as a victory of a section of the party, but as a moral victory of constitutionality over arbitrariness,” he stated.

“Thus, they must take inspiration from General Yakubu Gowon and declare a ‘no victor, no vanquished’ policy.

“As a senior member of the party, I hereby call on all those who left the party because of its leadership issues to return to their natural home and build the PDP,” he said.

Ekiti State Governor and Chairman, PDP Governors Forum, Mr. Ayodele Fayose, described the Supreme Court judgement as, “victory for democracy and the entire people of Nigeria who are suffering from APC misrule.”

A statement by his Special Assistant on Public Communications and New Media, Lere Olayinka, said: “With today’s judgement, PDP can now play its role as opposition party and prepare to take over power in 2019,” he said.

Shekarau, also in a statement by his media aide, Sule Ya’u Sule, described the ruling as, “gladding and a victory for democracy.

“We patiently waited for this day and it has come as envisaged. It is now left for the party to organise itself and begin the process of taking over government come 2019,” he said.

Chairman of PDP in Benue State, Sir John Ngbede, told our correspondent in Makurdi that the judgement was a true reflection of the party’s constitution and that it confirmed the party’s NWC as the highest authority.

A former Minister of Interior, Comrade Abba Moro, described the ruling as “vindication for democracy” even as he lauded the judiciary for “proving to be the last bastion of hope for the ordinary Nigerian.”

The Bauchi State chapter of PDP, through its Publicity Secretary, Yayanuwa Zainabari, appealed to members to forget their differences and cooperate with Makarfi’s leadership at all levels in order to forge ahead.

PDP Chairman in Rivers State, Bro. Felix Obuah, said the Supreme Court judgement was “heart-warming and a step in the right direction.”
