11 females, 2 males get first class degree from Nile varsity
The Nile University, Abuja has produced 13 first class students, out of which eleven are females.
The institution, during its 5th convocation at the weekend, also honoured the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Eniitan Ogunwusi (Ojaja II), and Hajiya Mariya Sanusi Dantata with Doctor of Science (Honoris Causa).
The daughter of Senator Garba Yakubu Lado Danmarke, Zainab Yakubu Lado, a B.Sc (Hons) Biology, came overall best student with a GP of 4.95.
Other first class graduates are Aisha Aliyu Modibbo, Theodora Ebosereme Okojie, Aisha Kabir, Abdulsamad Mustapha, Esther Udoka Ndudinanti, Faisal Buba Muhammad, Umi-Amara Ibrahim, Maryam Sheshi Yahaya, Mariam Musa Alfa, Sadiya Umar Atiku and Fatima Alhassan Sule.
The university graduated 270 students out of which 99 were under graduates and 171 Post Graduates from 23 departments.
The Chairman, Governing Council of the institution, Mr Mehmet Basturk, said the university was established to complement government’s efforts to make tertiary level of education to form the bedrock of high level of workforce development.
“It is our desire to contribute our quota to the development of Nigeria by preparing and equipping young men and women with the necessary knowledge and skills for sustainable development,” Basturk said.
Also, the Vice Chancellor of the University, Professor Dr. Huseyin Sert, said apart from imparting knowledge into students, the school, in collaboration with its Canadian Partners, is making impact educationally especially in the IDP camps in the Northern parts of the country, through skill acquisition, general health and safety training, among others.
