MFM reduce Plateau Utd’s lead to three points

@shagcy Mountain of Fire and Miracles (MFM) Football Club of Lagos, yesterday reduced Plateau United’s five points lead of the Nigeria Profession­al Football League table by two points with a 1-0 win over visiting Wikki Tourists of Bauchi. Stephen Odey was on target 40 minutes into the match to take his goals tally to 17, while Plateau United lost by the same margin to hosts Niger Tornadoes’ 4th minute strike by Samuel Agba.

The only away win of the day was recorded in IjebuOde where visiting Nasarawa United spanked Sunshine Stars at their banished home ground through Abdulrahma­n Bashir’s 40th minute strike.

Akwa United also moved to the third spot on the log after dismantlin­g visiting Gombe United 3-0 at the nest of champions in Uyo. Newman Musa, Abdulahi Ibrahim Alhassan and Christian Pyagbara scored the goals in the 57th, 76th and 83rd minutes respective­ly; while Godwin Obaje scored in the 50th minute to ensure FC IfeanyiUba­h ran away with a 1-0 victory over Enyimba in Nnewi.

Former champions Kano Pillars dismissed Rangers Internatio­nal 2-0 in Kano with Jamiu Alimi’s double strike in the 33rd and 44th minutes, while the match involving ABS and Rivers United ended 0-0 in Ilorin.

In Makurdi, Lobi Stars’ Uchenna Eze scored late to secure a hard-earned 3-2 victory against Remo Stars. Lobi’s other scorers were Tony Okpotu (9th minute) and Kingsley Eduwo (38), while Victor Chidume and Ekene Awazie scored for Sky Blue Stars. El-Kanemi Warriors also defeated Abia Warriors 1-0 to stay fourth on the log.
