Kebbi education inspectors get motorcycles

The Kebbi State Universal Basic Education Board has employed 521 teachers and shared out 170 motorcycles to inspectors working with the Local Education Authorities (LGEAs).

Out of the 521 employed teachers, 400 are NCE holders while 121 are supporting staff.

The motorcycles are meant to reduce transport difficulties, ensure smooth monitoring of the performance of school staff and improve teaching and the teaching environment.

Speaking to journalists during the distribution of the motorcycles in Birnin Kebbi, the Executive Secretary of SUBEB, Alhaji Balarabe Abdulmumini, said the gesture was aimed at improving the standard of education and boosting the number of teachers in the state’s primary schools.

He said the board was able to procure the motorcycles after saving N63m in seven months.

Speaking during the event, Governor Abubakar Atiku Bagudu said his administration would continue improve access to quality education across the state.

He commended SUBEB for its initiatives which he said would go a long way to actualising some of the objectives of the state government on education in Kebbi State.

“The motorcycles would no doubt help in the inspection and management of our schools,” he said.
