‘Men are not wired to cheat’
Contrary to the popular notion that men are wired to cheat on their wives, the male folks are created to love their spouses and care for their family, a pioneer member of the Marriage is Beautiful platform, Smart Henry, has said.
Speaking recently at the 2nd anniversary celebration of the platform in Abuja, Henry said any man caught cheating on his wife is an ungodly person and should not be used as yardstick to dub all men as natural cheats.
He said that any man cheating on his wife basically did not have the fear of God in him and it was unfortunate that some men indulged in such act as any man who loved God and his wife will not cheat on her.
He advised women who have cheating husbands to be patient and remain prayerful to God to wade into the situation as divorce was never the option.
On the issue of wife battery, Henry said it was a topic always discussed on the platform hence any woman who knew that her marriage had turned violent should walk out.
“She needs to walk out so that she doesn’t go six feet down and the man ends up going to jail,” he said.
So to walk out is better to avoid any calamity, Henry also said.
Speaking to couples at the event, a marriage counsellor, Deaconess Adenike Owolabi, said the fear of God amongst couples was one of the key spices that keep a marriage.
She urged couples to sacrifice for one another in their marriage, communicate, remain faithful to one another, be submissive to each other, appreciate one another as well as satisfy each other’s desire.
Winners of the best couple on the platform who were barely one year into their marriage, Mr and Mrs Galumje, urged women who are yet to settle down in marriage to try and choose a partner who best suits to connect to God in the marriage or courtship and remain connected to each other.
On his part, the convener, Marriage is Beautiful platform, Pastor John Shuaibu, said the essence of the platform was to create an avenue where couples could be enlightened and assisted with all they needed to save their marriage.
He said “I really want a society filled with love and less cases of divorce because marriage is indeed beautiful.”
He called on people yet to settle down in marriage not to be scared due to cases of marital challenges recorded in the society but look up to God when choosing a partner and staying in marriage.
