Akwa Utd U-19 will be worthy ambassador­s in Egypt – Nse

@Ngobuadavi­d The Deputy Chairman of Akwa Ibom State House Committee on Sports, Hon. Otuekong Essien Nse has assured that Akwa United U-19 boys will be worthy ambassador­s of Nigeria at the forthcomin­g Internatio­nal Soccer Clubs tournament in Egypt.

The youth team of Nigerian Profession­al Football League side, Akwa United is among the 8 teams around the world that have been invited to take part in the maiden championsh­ip to be staged from 7-12 August.

In a chat with Daily Trust, Nse who doubles as the supervisor of the team, said the players who gave a good account of themselves during the maiden edition of the NPFL/La Liga competitio­n were ready to do Nigeria proud in Egypt.

He said the government of Akwa Ibom State which is committed to grassroots sports developmen­t is giving all the necessary support to the youth team.

Nse also said the invitation of Akwa United to the internatio­nal tournament was as a result of his high level connection in sports, particular­ly football.

“Looking at our level of preparatio­n, I can say that we are going to do the country proud. We are not going to make up the numbers in Egypt. The boys will be worthy ambassador­s of Nigeria. This is the maiden edition of the tournament and our aim is to excel so as to open the door for other Nigerian clubs.
