15 killed in separate attacks in Konduga, Askira Uba

Not fewer than 15 people have been killed in separate attacks by suspected Boko Haram insurgents.

Vigilante sources said many civilians were still missing following an incident which occurred at Jekete village in Konduga Local Government Area of Borno State about 10am yesterday when some farmers were shot dead on their farmlands, while six women were among missing farmers.

Local vigilante sources disclosed that the farmers tried to escape but they were overpowere­d by the dozens of insurgents.

"We received the report from those who escaped death. So far, 10 dead bodies have been recovered. At first eight were found but later two teenagers were seen on farm lands where they were shot dead.We are still looking for missing people, including six women but we hope they would come back," one of the sources said.

Similarly, five people were killed and more than 120 heads of cows carted away when insurgents attacked southern part of Borno on Sunday, sources said.

According to the source, the terrorists stormed the remote village of Dagu near Kilikasha in Askira Uba Local Government Area of Borno State, killing three members of a family and two herders.

"We lost three of our members (local vigilantes) and two herdsmen on Sunday as terrorists attacked Dagu village. More than 120 cows have been stolen from late herdsmen," the source said.
