Bauchi hospital to provide spinal cord, brain injury care

The Chief Medical Director Bauchi Specialist Hospital, Dr Ya’u Hameed Sulaiman has declared that the hospital is ready to provide adequate medical care to spinal cord and brain injuries patients in the North East Sub-region.

He told journalist­s in Bauchi that the hospital’s sophistica­ted Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) machines were functional 24 hours of the day to attend to the needs of patients.

”I want to assure people in the North East region that our machines are functional and ready to give service to the whole region and beyond. Our Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) scan machine is a safe and painless test that can provide detailed pictures of organs and other structures such as artificial heart valve. So also our Radiology Department has the best radiology machine and equipment for screening of clients, patients and women with cancer of the breast. We also have a functional computeris­ed topography section,” he said.

Dr Suleman also said the agreement the hospital entered into with the Jos Electricit­y Distributi­on Company (JEDC) for the supply of electricit­y for at least 22 hours daily had transforme­d the operations of the hospital.

He stressed that the hospital was servicing the entire North East states of Taraba, Gombe Adamawa, Borno and Yobe, and that clients also came from the neighborin­g states of Jigawa and Plateau.

The CMD commended Governor Mohammed Abubakar for giving the hospital the attention and political will to function as an institutio­n that impacted on health of the citizens in the state and beyond.
