- By Musa Abdullahi Krishi

The House of Representatives Committee on Public Petitions yesterday summoned the Inspector General of Police, Ibrahim Idris and the Acting Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Ibrahim Magu over the alleged harassment of Dame Patience Jonathan, wife of former president Goodluck Jonathan.

The committee also summoned the chairman of the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS), Babatunde Fowler over the matter.

The trio are to appear before the committee as defendants in a petition presented on the floor of the House, alleging constant harassment by their subordinates on Mrs Jonathan and her relations.

The three agencies were billed to appear at a hearing of the committee chaired by Uzoma Nkem-Abonta (PDP, Abia) on the matter yesterday. Due to their absence, the committee resolved to summon their heads.

This was even as the committee grilled officials of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) on the matter.

The committee demanded the agency to furnish it with the identities of the informants that gave them information leading to a raid on the former first lady’s property.

A director at the agency, Femi Oloruntoba, told the panel that NDLEA raided the property, located at Igbeti Rock Street Maitama Abuja, following a tip-off from an unnamed individual that the property was used for drug related activities.
