Police find Osun Prayer Mountain missing boy after 5 days

- From Hameed Oyegbade, Osogbo

Osun State Police Command has discovered the 8-yearold boy, Boluwatife Babatunde who was missing at a Prayer Mountain, CAC Ori-Oke Ayo in Ikoyi, Isokan Local Government Council Area of Osun state.

The Commissioner of Police in the state, Mr Fimihan Adeoye told our correspondent that the boy strayed into the bush from the prayer mountain and was eventually discovered after five days.

The CP frowned that the father of the boy, Olanrewaju Babatunde raised false alarm that his son was kidnapped by the administrators of the prayer mountain and some individuals that came to pray there.

Adeoye said the boy went into the bush while looking for his mother, that the father gave misleading information and caused panic.

The Divisional Police Officer in charge of Apomun Division, Mr Sani Muhammed handed over the boy to his parents in Osogbo on behalf of the CP.

When he saw his son, the father said the stomach and the legs of the boy has swelled up and that something must have been done to Boluwatife during the period that he was missing.

This prompted the Commissioner of Police to invite medical doctors from the police clinic to examine the boy. Doctor Adeyemi Michael who examined the boy said the swell on Boluwatife’s stomach and legs were not recent and not within the period that he was missing.

Speaking on the development, one of the clerics at the prayer mountain, Pastor Olusanya Alalade expressed worry that the father of the boy was making contradictory statement and called on the police to investigate the matter thoroughly.
