Kerosene ex­plo­sion claims 4 kids of same par­ents

Kerosene ex­plo­sion has claimed the lives of four chil­dren of the same par­ents in Ozuoba com­mu­nity, Obio/Ak­por Lo­cal Gov­ern­ment Area of Rivers State.

The in­ci­dent oc­curred at the week­end, when the mother of the chil­dren was about to make fire in her stove to pre­pare meal for mem­bers of the fam­ily.

A wit­ness, Mercy Ndume, dis­closed that the stove con­tained adul­ter­ated kerosene, other­wise called ‘Kpo Fire’, and that the fire razed the build­ing of the vic­tims and other oc­cu­pants.

She said the mother of the chil­dren nar­rowly es­caped death, ex­plain­ing that what es­ca­lated the fire were jerry cans filled with kerosene and stored in the apart­ment.

Daily Trust gath­ered that another kerosene ex­plo­sion oc­curred yes­ter­day, en­gulf­ing a house­hold in Queen­stown, Opobo/Nkoro Lo­cal Gov­ern­ment Area, af­fect­ing three chil­dren of the same par­ents, who were said to be in crit­i­cal con­di­tions.
