- From: Victor Edozie, Port Harcourt

Kerosene explosion has claimed the lives of four children of the same parents in Ozuoba community, Obio/Akpor Local Government Area of Rivers State.

The incident occurred at the weekend, when the mother of the children was about to make fire in her stove to prepare meal for members of the family.

A witness, Mercy Ndume, disclosed that the stove contained adulterated kerosene, otherwise called ‘Kpo Fire’, and that the fire razed the building of the victims and other occupants.

She said the mother of the children narrowly escaped death, explaining that what escalated the fire were jerry cans filled with kerosene and stored in the apartment.

Daily Trust gathered that another kerosene explosion occurred yesterday, engulfing a household in Queenstown, Opobo/Nkoro Local Government Area, affecting three children of the same parents, who were said to be in critical conditions.
