Our pri­or­ity is to build FCT in­sti­tu­tions — Min­is­ter

The Min­is­ter of the Fed­eral Cap­i­tal Ter­ri­tory, Malam Muham­mad Musa Bello said his ad­min­is­tra­tion has been work­ing to strengthen var­i­ous in­sti­tu­tions in Abuja in the past two years.

Bello dis­closed this yes­ter­day when he re­ceived a del­e­ga­tion from Me­dia Trust Lim­ited, pub­lish­ers of the Trust ti­tles, led by its Ed­i­tor-In-Chief/CEO, Malam Man­nir Dan-Ali.

The Min­is­ter said he has made his of­fice ac­ces­si­ble to the pub­lic, so that more peo­ple can be part of run­ning Abuja.

While high­light­ing the achieve­ments of the Pres­i­dent Muham­madu Buhari ad­min­is­tra­tion in the last two years, Bello said “What we have tried to do within the two years of this ad­min­is­tra­tion in the FCT is to strengthen the in­sti­tu­tions, to en­able them do what they are statu­to­rily cre­ated for with­out the over­bear­ing in­flu­ence of a min­is­ter, be­cause the min­is­ter will just come and go but in­sti­tu­tions are sup­posed to be there.”

He noted ar­eas that his of­fice ac­corded pri­or­ity to in­clude, main­te­nance of street lights and pro­tect­ing them and other pub­lic as­sets from van­dal­ism.

The min­is­ter how­ever ap­pealed to mem­bers of the pub­lic to con­trib­ute in safe­guard­ing util­i­ties, so the city and its en­vi­rons can grow.

He com­mended the del­e­ga­tion, while urg­ing the me­dia out­fit to stick to its core val­ues.
