Aregbesola’s mother dies

The mother of the Gov­er­nor of Osun State, Al­haja Saratu Aregbesola, who died yes­ter­day morn­ing, has been buried in Ilesa, Osun State in ac­cor­dance with Is­lamic rites.

The de­ceased was in­terred in her house af­ter a prayer led by the Grand Imam of Osun State who is also the Chief Imam of Osogbo, Sheikh Musa An­i­masahun.

Gov­er­nor Rauf Aregbesola and his sib­lings were joined by Mus­lim cler­ics and a large num­ber of sym­pa­this­ers dur­ing the prayer.

In a state­ment by the Chair­man, House Com­mit­tee on In­for­ma­tion and Strat­egy, Olatun­bo­sun Oy­in­tiloye on be­half of the Speaker of the House, the As­sem­bly de­scribed the de­ceased as a very char­i­ta­ble and benev­o­lent woman who loved his fam­ily.

Also, the All Pro­gres­sives Congress in the state said in a state­ment by the party chair­man, Prince Gboyega Famodun, said the death of Al­haja Saratu was sad.

The Chair­man of Osun state chap­ter of the Peo­ples Demo­cratic Party, Hon Soji Ada­gun­odo in a mes­sage of con­do­lence to Gov­er­nor Aregbesola, de­scribed the death of Al­haja Saratu as painful.

Sim­i­larly, the Osogbo-born Pro­fes­sion­als un­der the aegis of the Osogbo Af­fairs Fo­rum (OSAF) sent its con­do­lences. OSAF's mes­sage was con­tained in a press state­ment is­sued in Osogbo and signed by the Con­vener, Prince Hameed Oyeg­bade and the Chair­man of the Steer­ing Com­mit­tee, Mr. Ab­dul­rah­man Oku­nade.

Also, the Ooni of Ife, Oba Eni­tan Ogun­wusi com­mis­er­ated with Aregbesola over on the death of his mother and de­scribed the de­ceased as an epit­ome of moth­er­hood wor­thy of em­u­la­tion.

For­mer gov­er­nor of Osun state, Prince Ola­gun­soye Oyin­lola also sent a mes­sage of con­do­lence in which he spoke of the ‘ex­cep­tional bond’ be­tween Aregbesola and his mother.

For­mer Deputy Gov­er­nor of the state, Se­na­tor Iyi­ola Omisore said Al­haja Saratu lived a life wor­thy of em­u­la­tion as a de­voted Mus­lim.
