Aregbesola’s mother dies

The mother of the Governor of Osun State, Alhaja Saratu Aregbesola, who died yesterday morning, has been buried in Ilesa, Osun State in accordance with Islamic rites.

The deceased was interred in her house after a prayer led by the Grand Imam of Osun State who is also the Chief Imam of Osogbo, Sheikh Musa Animasahun.

Governor Rauf Aregbesola and his siblings were joined by Muslim clerics and a large number of sympathise­rs during the prayer.

In a statement by the Chairman, House Committee on Informatio­n and Strategy, Olatunbosu­n Oyintiloye on behalf of the Speaker of the House, the Assembly described the deceased as a very charitable and benevolent woman who loved his family.

Also, the All Progressiv­es Congress in the state said in a statement by the party chairman, Prince Gboyega Famodun, said the death of Alhaja Saratu was sad.

The Chairman of Osun state chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party, Hon Soji Adagunodo in a message of condolence to Governor Aregbesola, described the death of Alhaja Saratu as painful.

Similarly, the Osogbo-born Profession­als under the aegis of the Osogbo Affairs Forum (OSAF) sent its condolence­s. OSAF's message was contained in a press statement issued in Osogbo and signed by the Convener, Prince Hameed Oyegbade and the Chairman of the Steering Committee, Mr. Abdulrahma­n Okunade.

Also, the Ooni of Ife, Oba Enitan Ogunwusi commiserat­ed with Aregbesola over on the death of his mother and described the deceased as an epitome of motherhood worthy of emulation.

Former governor of Osun state, Prince Olagunsoye Oyinlola also sent a message of condolence in which he spoke of the ‘exceptiona­l bond’ between Aregbesola and his mother.

Former Deputy Governor of the state, Senator Iyiola Omisore said Alhaja Saratu lived a life worthy of emulation as a devoted Muslim.
