Ebonyi co­or­di­na­tor com­plains of low num­ber of fe­male NYSC mem­bers

The Ebonyi State Co­or­di­na­tor of the Na­tional Youth Ser­vice Corps (NYSC) Mrs Regina Iluebbey, yes­ter­day lamented the low par­tic­i­pa­tion of fe­males in the 2017 Batch ‘A’ stream ori­en­ta­tion pro­gramme.

Iluebbey who made the com­plaint at the NYSC ori­en­ta­tion camp dur­ing the visit of the NYSC Di­rec­tor Gen­eral, Brig-Gen, Suleiman Kaza­ure, said it was re­gret­table.

She said how­ever that the low mem­ber of fe­males was the first ex­pe­ri­ence in post­ing of corps mem­bers to Ebonyi state, dis­clos­ing that out of the to­tal of 1,884 posted to serve in the state, only 172 were fe­male, 54 of who were preg­nant.

“We reg­is­tered a to­tal of 1, 884 corps mem­bers for the ori­en­ta­tion pro­gramme com­pris­ing 1, 712 males and 172 fe­males. Out of the 172 fe­males, 54 of them are preg­nant,” she said, adding that the preg­nant ones had left the camp on in­stant re­lo­ca­tion.

She charged the newly posted corps mem­bers to work on the unity of the na­tion whereever they were posted.
