Nige­ri­ans urged to pa­tro­n­ise lo­cally made prod­ucts

The Min­is­ter of Sci­ence and Tech­nol­ogy, Dr. Og­bon­naya Onu, has called on Nige­ri­ans to pa­tro­n­ise Made in Nige­ria prod­ucts that have met the re­quired cer­ti­fi­ca­tions.

The Min­is­ter who made the call at a meet­ing with the Min­is­ter of State for In­dus­try, Trade and In­vest­ment, Aisha Abubakar in Abuja yes­ter­day, added that con­sum­ing Made in Nige­ria goods will en­able the lo­cal man­u­fac­tur­ers em­bark on re­search that will im­prove on the qual­ity of their prod­ucts.

There have been calls by gov­ern­ment of­fi­cials on the need to in­crease pa­tron­age of lo­cally man­u­fac­tured goods since the is­suance of Ex­ec­u­tive Or­der E03 by Act­ing Pres­i­dent Yemi Os­in­bajo on May 18th, 2017.

“We are com­mit­ted to mak­ing sure that we put in our own con­tri­bu­tions to en­sure that we con­vert the enor­mous and the abun­dance raw ma­te­ri­als in the coun­try into prod­ucts that our peo­ple will re­quire, that we don’t have to rely on the im­por­ta­tion of ev­ery­thing we need. We want our Naira to be strong and we want jobs for our peo­ple” the Min­is­ter stated yes­ter­day.
