‘Statistics bureau, best public institutio­n 2016’

The National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) has won the ‘Best Public Institutio­n Award of the Year 2016’.

The Lagos Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI) announced NBS as the winner at a ceremony in Lagos recently.

The award which was presented by the President of LCCI, Dr. Nike Akande, was received on behalf of the management of NBS by the Statistici­an General of the Federation, Dr. Yemi Kale.

A statement from the NBS on the award stated that: “It should be noted that the award is an outcome of a painstakin­g selection process from numerous entries received for this award category and backed by feedbacks from industry and market intelligen­ce.”

It further stated that the statistici­an general was very delighted about the award and expressed appreciati­on to the entire staff of NBS.

Kale said the award was a reward for their tireless efforts in ensuring that quality data were produced in NBS.

He expressed appreciati­on to Nigerians who massively voted for NBS during the selection process.

In return, the statistici­an general promised the public reliable, timely, comprehens­ive and accurate data for national developmen­t.
